Freshwater Fishing
Even before the first man rigged together a fishing rod, the Mississippi River and its tributaries have been siphoning the best topsoil from the better part of the continent. For millions of years, these nutrients have flowed down the river and deposited into our wetlands, ultimately manifesting in some of the most rich and diverse habitats in the world. Many of these habitats are ripe with freshwater fishing opportunities.
Plaquemines Parish is littered with fresh water systems such as ponds, lakes, canals, and marsh. In virtually any of these waters, you can expect to catch a wide variety of freshwater species, including largemouth bass, sunfish, and catfish. Some species, such as the alligator gar, are known to reach sizes of epic proportions.

Captain Cal discovered his love for fishing just like most kids sitting on the canal bank perch jerkin. His dad used to bring him to Hwy. 11 to catch lake runners at the ripe old age of 3. Growing up Captain Cal's family owned camps on both the East and West side of the Mississippi River. The most important thing to him is the memories and friendships that are made out on the water.
