Freshwater Fishing
Even before the first man rigged together a fishing rod, the Mississippi River and its tributaries have been siphoning the best topsoil from the better part of the continent. For millions of years, these nutrients have flowed down the river and deposited into our wetlands, ultimately manifesting in some of the most rich and diverse habitats in the world. Many of these habitats are ripe with freshwater fishing opportunities.
Plaquemines Parish is littered with fresh water systems such as ponds, lakes, canals, and marsh. In virtually any of these waters, you can expect to catch a wide variety of freshwater species, including largemouth bass, sunfish, and catfish. There is absolutely nothing better than watching a 30lb redfish crush a fly in 18 inches of water. I fish out of a Hells Bay Waterman. Using the pole exclusively allows us you to get closer to the fish and give you more shots than using a trolling motor.
