Plaquemines Parish Fair & Orange Festival

Plaquemines Parish Fair & Orange Festival

The Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival returns the first weekend of December at the historic Fort Jackson in Buras, celebrating Plaquemines Parish's rich citrus heritage. This annual event highlights the agricultural abundance and vibrant culture of the parish with a festive lineup for all ages.

The three-day festival pays homage to centuries of citrus farming in Plaquemines Parish, featuring live music, local cuisine, family-friendly activities, carnival rides, and unique contests. Attendees can showcase their skills in a variety of competitions, including kumquat stuffing, orange eating, orange peeling, duck calling, shrimp de-heading, catfish skinning, and oyster shucking.

“We’re thrilled to once again celebrate this festival at historic Fort Jackson on the banks of the Mississippi River,” said Cynthia Wooton, spokesperson for the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival. “For over 75 years, this festival has honored Plaquemines Parish's rich citrus farming heritage while bringing families together for a weekend filled with live music, food, and unforgettable fun. We invite everyone to join us for this unique celebration of local culture and community.”
